Just Dance, ever wanted to hook up your Wii and dance without those floor mats? Well, now you can. Just Dance for the Nintendo Wii console has been released by Ubisoft and it may be one of the first dancing games that you actually get to dance in.
Just Dance doesn't use buttons to bust out the dance moves. You actually have to get up and just dance. A fun, interactive game which appeals to Schoolgirls, families and adults enjoying having a fun time after the kids have gone to bed. Just Dance offers a variety of different songs and genres to dance to. Everything from "Who Let the Dogs Out" by the Baja Men to "Can't Touch This" by M.C. Hammer are offered, included with tons of dance moves that are sure to make you look as ridiculous as possible.
Just dance does offer a good array from the very simple to some very difficult to master dance moves that will keep everyone laughing. Most of the songs are easy to dance to, but the more difficult ones take time to master. Dancing is a matter following the dancer on screen like it is a mirror image. The Wii-mote, kept in the right hand reads and transmits the player's motions. A rating is received based on the timing of the move the player mimics.
In Just Dance your moves must be absolutely perfect at times and this can get a little frustrating. Getting an "Ok" rating instead of a "Great" rating can really hurt your score, and sometimes it is difficult to see how the Wii-Mote has missed your complex bust-a-move symmetry. The game decides the rating based on how good you perform the move and sometimes it just doesn't get it right, a little lee-way in what is a, do not take yourself to seriously, kind of game. There will be times when you pull off moves perfectly and it won't even give you a rating. This can be frustrating even to the most casual players. Everyone wants to be rewarded for their efforts.
Despite this issue, Just Dance acheives what it sets out to do, alright it could have had a better layout and graphics but that isn't what the game is aimed at. The graphics of the dancers are very colorful, but having a more realistic character, whilst nice, doesn't really detract from the gameplay. The layout is very simple, but lacks in creativity. You just scroll through them from right to left and it isn't that visually appealing but once a song is selected and you start moving you quickly forget the cracks.
If you are looking for a true gamer's game then the title tells you all you really need to know. If you are four teenage girls looking to bop for an hour in the living room on a Sunday afternoon or on a sleep-over this is a perfect way to have fun, kick back and relax. |
